JOBLESS BED, TET TEACHERS ON A SILENT PROTEST

In support of their demand for release of recruitment advertisement for the vacant posts of primary teachers, the federation of Bachelor of Education (B Ed)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates took out a silent protest march on Monday. The members of the federation gathered at the protest site at the old Raipur bus stand and marched towards Clock tower. The agitators carried placards demanding release of recruitment advertisement in the 6200 posts of primary teachers in the government schools of Uttarakhand.

The spokesperson of the Federation, Arvind Barthwal told The Pioneer that thousands of the youths across the state would be rendered not eligible for the post of primary teachers in the government schools of the State after March 31, 2016. He said that large numbers of post of primary teachers are lying vacant in the schools of the State but the State Government is yet to start recruitment drive for these posts. The federation is also demanding that the state government should bring amendment in the School teacher first appointment, promotion, transfer posting guidelines- 2014 and incorporate the year-wise merit based system of selection in it.

Barthwal said that the federation has planned series of activities in the coming days to put pressure on the state government. He told that these activities involve protest at the residence of education minister, education directorate, March carrying torches and finally secretariat march on January 12. 

It is worth mentioning here that more than 25,000 BEd/ TET qualified youths in the state waiting for the new recruitment drive as the two year reprieve provided to state by NCTE to appoint B Ed qualified youths in the primary schools is ending on March 31, 2016.


The NCTE propounded that only Diploma in Elementary Education (D El Ed) qualified candidates are qualified to teach in the Primary schools.
